Parking Areas
All parking on campus is allocated and signed for specific uses. Parking regulations are enforced and permits are required 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To promote safety, some restrictions are reduced after 4:00PM weekdays and all day on weekends to encourage customers to use the proximity parking lots. Permits, must be displayed or vehicles should be parked at a meter or in a pay facilities.
SURFACE LOTS
Faculty, staff and student parking is designated as "A," "B," and "C," respectively (or "WA," "WB," or "WC" for West Campus).
WEST CAMPUS VS. CENTRAL CAMPUS
The West Campus parking boundary is designated as any area west of State Route 315. Blankenship is the sole exception to this designation. West Campus permit holders must park in the parking lots located west of State Route 315 (except the Blankenship lot). West Campus permit holders may park on Central Campus in any non-restricted parking space between 4:00PM and 3:00AM weekdays and on weekends (Friday 4:00PM through Monday 3:00AM)*.
Please be aware that there are restricted parking areas and spaces on campus and be sure to read the signs for the specifics in each area.
"Restricted" Parking
The “Restricted” parking spaces on campus are signed with an “R” parking sign. Each sign indicates the parking restriction for that area and who is allowed to park in the space. These spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"No Parking Anytime" Areas
Safety precautions necessitate “no parking anytime” areas. These areas must remain clear to permit vehicles to maneuver safely through the area. For short-term parking needs, most buildings have Loading Zones that allow parking for 15-30 minutes. Signs posted indicate the time permitted.
Disablity Parking
Disability parking is located throughout campus, but some spaces are reserved for specific license plates 24 hours a day. A current OSU Disability Parking permit is required for all students, faculty, and staff who wish to use Disability Parking. Please see the Disablity parking section in the Policies and Procedures for more information.
The hashed area directly next to the designated disability parking space is considered to be part of the disability parking space; this area allows individuals with mobility impairments to enter/exit the vehicle. Vehicles found parking in these areas will be cited and may be towed.
Loading Zones
Loading Zones on campus are signed with a posted time limit to provide access for individuals who depend on these spaces to make timely deliveries. The time limits encourage high turnover. The Loading Zone should be used for delivering heavy items only. Persons delivering small packages are encouraged to use parking meters or designated short-term parking. Please check the posted time limits. All Loading Zones are enforced 24 hours per day and are designated tow away zones.
Loading Zones are also available for the immediate pick-up and drop-off of passengers. Loading Zones are located in areas where parking may be limited yet many people may need to access. Loading Zones also provide disabled persons a place to be picked up or dropped off safely.
Limited Time Zones
Limited time zone parking spaces are spaces on campus which have a restricted amount of time (i.e. 2 hour parking, etc.). These spaces are located in high traffic areas to provide short-term parking options and are intended to facilitate turnover. Any vehicle which remains in a limited time zone beyond the time posted is illegally parked and in violation of the parking rules. This includes, but is not limited to:
- those individuals who back out of the space and then pull back in to the same space for another allotted amount of time and,
- individuals who back out of a limited time zone space and pull into another limited time zone space in the same general area.
